I got the shaft.

Rockauto is a good place to get parts. I got my MOOG ball joints and Blower Motor Control Module there. I thought I got my First Equipment Quality W0133-1721549 Axles there too, but in checking my email I found that I got them at auto parts network for $71.49 each. It seemed like a deal too good to be true and it was. They lasted about 3 months.

I replaced them with The Drive Shaft Shop 600HP Complete Axles. So far, so good. I did have to re-tighten them once. The Drive Shaft Shop had a better deal on a one piece drive shaft for Sam's car than I could get locally.Which is sad, because I would rather buy parts here in Albuquerque.

Surprisingly, I do not have a picture of my rear end, but I do have this picture of my steering wheel that my girlfriend got me from Motiva.

The evil Technical Inspection

Some times I get hung up by the rules. That's the way it is for Round 5 Southwest Drift Albuquerque with No Coast Drift Party. I'm more worried about my car passing Technical Inspection than I am that I probably don't have the driving skill to make it to the top 16. Maybe I'll qualify 17th and 16th won't be able to race because: He ran out of gas. He had a flat tire. He didn't have enough money for cab fare. His racing suit didn't come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from out of town. Someone stole his car. There was an earthquake. A terrible flood. Locusts!

The rules are not entirely clear, but it looks like they are using the FORMULA DRIFT Championship 2012 PRO Rules and Regulations with some modifications.
VegasProAm Drivers are not bound to the 8.1, 8.11.1, 8.5.3.2, 8.5.3.3 rules
All of your personal safety gear must follow the Formula Drift rule set under 7.1x
You are only required to have 1 bucket/race seat and one harness, and does not need to meet the Formula Drift 7.3 rule
Your Fire extinguisher must be 2.5-5lbs and with in an arms reach, and does not need to meet the Formula Drift 7.7 rule
You can run windows up or down. If you choose to run them down or have a convertible you will be required to have arm restraints.
Please make sure your tow hooks are properly labeled and are able to withstand an actual tow.

Here are the things I plan to buy:
Buddy Club Racing Spec Super Low Seat Rails - Nissan 240SX $159.99

RaceQuip FIA/SFI Camlock Belts $199.99

ISIS Performance Universal Racing Tow Strap $14.99

Corbeau Fixed Back Seat - Forza Sport  $319.00

Battery cut-off switch 6-pole-alternator protection $44.50

ER Spec S14 Drift Car Roll Cage $499.99

Sparco Polished Hood Pins $34.99

G-Force GF145 Racing Suit $109.99

G-FORCE Flame-Retardant Socks $19.99

Any feedback is appreciated.

Entering the Drift World

My older sisters started calling me Tommy Technician when I was about 5 years old because I took apart broken household items and fixed them. I think it started with a toaster. When I was 10 my mom came unnerved when she found I had completely disassembled my bicycle to detail it. By the time I was 21, I had done every repair or rebuild possible on a common, pre-electronic ignition, automobile.

I had a desire to race cars, but I never made the time or the money. Three years ago my son, Sam, wanted to get in to drifting. I had saved money to sue a psychopath who slandered me. After thinking about the cost verses benefit I decided to put my money in to drifting. With Sam's big dreams and little insight, we bought a 1997 Nissan 240SX. It was two mistakes in one. Sam was always out driving the Kouki, giving me little chance to work on it and it had an automatic transmission.

The more Sam talked about drifting the more my obsession with drifting grew. I needed my own drift machine. I bought a 1995 240SX and we went to our first drift event March 17, 2013 at NAPA Speedway in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It was exciting seeing all the cars and imagining sliding around the track. At the drivers meeting the newbies were identified which lead to me getting some much needed lessons in the art of drifting. In less than an hour the excitement and learning ended when the engine died due to a cracked Evaporative Emission Control System tube hiding under the intake manifold.

Motiva Race Squad Team II
On 18 May 2015 I received the honor of being a member of Motiva Race Squad Team II. It's a sweet deal because I'm already a customer. Members are encouraged to write a Blog.

Motiva Performance helps drivers make the most of their rides. Street, strip, road course, dirt or even Sea Doo, Motiva can help you make the most of it. When the KA24 engine died in my 1995 240SX, S 14 I swapped it for a SR20 with an Empathy tune. I was not impressed. It was weak. I took my car to Motiva and Scott Fox, Master Mechanic and Certified Tuning Specialist, helped me figure out what I needed to do to get out of my engine what I was looking for. I left with power and dependability. My car is much more pleasing to drive.
